     Thomas Ballard was the son of William Ballard. Thomas Ballard of Letton, Herefordshire. Granted Arms c 1400 by College of Arms. He married Rose Hurtesley.

     Rose Hurtesley married Thomas Ballard, son of William Ballard. Rose Hurtesley 4th in descent from Sir Richard Hurtesley Lord of the manor of Lecton. Her married name was Ballard.

     William Ballard was the son of Thomas Ballard and Rose Hurtesley. William Ballard College of Arms 1460 - 1480. His wife sold his heraldic records to Sir John Wrythe. He was March King of Arms. He died in 1489.

     John Ballard was the son of William Ballard. John Ballard of Much Dewchurch. PCC Will 13 Stevenson 1564. He married Alice Unknown circa 1554. John Ballard died in 1563. He left a will on 2 March 1563 at Much Dewchurch, Herefordshire, , England; In the name of God Amen the seconde daie of March in the yeare of Our Lord god a thousande ffyve hundredthe three score and three I John Ballarde of Much Dewchurch in the Dioces of Herefford sick in body and hole in mynde and perfecte in remembrance thanks be to allmightie god make my last testement and will in manner and fforme ffollowinge.

     Her married name was Ballard. Alice Unknown married John Ballard, son of William Ballard, circa 1554.

     Richard Ballard was the son of John Ballard and Alice Unknown. Richard Ballard of Rudhall Ross. He left a will on 15 June 1623 at Ross, Herefordshire, , England; In the name of God Amen the fifteenth day of June Anno Domini 1623 I Richard Ballard of Rudhall in the county of Hereford do make this my last will and testament First I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty God hoping to be saved by the merits of Christ Jesus my Saviour And my body to be buried in the Church of Ross unto which I bequeath xx^d Item I appoint to be bestowed upon the xxd Item I bestow upon the poor of Ross x^d a year for ever to be paid at Christmas, out of my house which Mark the glover hath. 18th day of March 1625? Commission granted to John Maddox to administer the estate of Richard Ballard yeoman of Weston Subter Peniard (now called Weston Under Penyard) in the county of Herefordshire. [There are quite few names here and it really needs someone to translate this to get the full meaning but it seems to recount that John Maddocke died intestate and that each of Richard's sisters is dead? John Williams and Margaret, Thomas Maddox and Alicia, Thomas Thomkins and Joanna and George Abrahall and Matilda ].¹ He died before 1625. His estate was probated on 18 March 1625.²
