[i] William Ballard was buried in Wymeswold.

[ii] William had connections with Barton, Hoton, Wymeswold, Ratcliffe on Trent, Willoughby and <??????>

[iii] William’s second son was named Thomas

[iv] William’s third son was named William.

[v] William’ fourth son was named George and it seems likely from the later entries that he was “put apprentice” for a consideration of 100 marks.

[vi] William’s fifth son’s name is illegible but we know from other sources that it was Adrian. Adrian was apprenticed by deed for 100 marks.

[vii] Daniel was William’s sixth and youngest son and he was also apprenticed.

[viii] William had a daughter, Elizabeth.

[ix] William’s eldest son was Edward whom he also made executor.

[x] William had a goddaughter Elizabeth Brett.

[xi] William had a wife (name illegible) and she was living at the time that he made his will.

[xii] William had a good friend named Thomas <Cate>

[xiii] William had a good friend named Richard Parkyn – probably the same as the person named in the will of his son Thomas in 1617.

[xiv] William’s brother-in-law was Thomas Hall of <????????> <Park?> - he was married to Anne Hall and in 1592 Henry Hall of Costock, Nottinghamshire was a Trustee of the marriage settlement of Edward Ballard and Valentyne Rolleston.

[xv] This is the first real confirmation of a blood tie between the Ballard and Noble families other than the Harleian Ms. According to that source William was the son of Edward Ballard and Elizabeth Noble.
