In the name of God Amen.  I William Ballard of the parish of Saint Andrew Undershaft London Citizen and Weaver considering the uncertainty of this life do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First and principally I commend my soul to God who gave it hoping for Remission of my sins, through the alone Merits of Jesus Christ my Savior and Redeemer and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named and as to such worldly goods and estate and effects with which it hath or shall please God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth.  First I will order and direct that all of my just debts together with my funeral charges be first well and truly paid and satisfied.  And whereas I am possessed of 150 pounds in a East India Annuities bearing an interest of 3 1/2 per cent now I do hereby give and bequeath the interest and dividends of the same to my loving wife Charity Ballard for the term of her natural life to and for her own use and disposal, without the controller or intermeddling of any husband she may hereafter espouse and I direct that her receipt alone shall be a proper discharge for the same from time to time and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the said 150 pounds East India Annuities to my sons William Ballard and James Ballard equally divided between them share and share alike.  And if either of them my said sons shall happened to die before my said wife then I give and bequeath the same to the survivor of them who shall be living at the decease of my said wife but if it shall happen that both my said sons shall die in of the lifetime of my said wife Charity Ballard then I give and bequeath the said 150 pounds East Indiana Annuities and all dividends interest and proceeds thereof to my said wife Charity Ballard to and for her sole use and benefit for ever.  Item I give and bequeath unto my son James Ballard £20.00 to put him out apprentice to some good trade incase I shall not live to do it for myself.  Item I give them to my friend John Mawson one Guinea for a ring And all of the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature kind or quality the same may be of or consist at the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my wife Charity Ballard to and for her owner of sole use and benefit forever and I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife and my said friend John Mawson joint executors of this my last will hereby revoking all former wills heretofore by me at any time made declaring this only to be my last will and testament.  In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixth day of October in the year of our lord 1752.  Wm Ballard signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us John Dobbinson . This Will was proved at London the 30th day of May in the year of our Lord 1758 before the Worshipful Andrew Coltee Ducarel Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir George Lee Knight also Doctor of Laws and Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Charity Ballard widow the relict of the deceased and John Mawson the executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer.

 

On the twelfth day of August in the year of our lord 1762 administration with the will and next of the goods chattels and credits of William Ballard late of the parish of Saint Andrew Undershaft London deceased left unadministered by Charity Ballard widow and John Mawson the executors named in the said will since also respectively deceased granted to James Ballard the son and administrator of the goods of the said Charity Ballard deceased whilst living his relict and surviving executor and residuary legatee named in the said will to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
