These are to Certify that I William Ballard do assign to my oldest son William Ballard of the village of Plaistow in the county of Essex the whole of my Prize money as is or may become due me Wm Ballard during my absence in the above ship also pension due to me due to me during my absence and pay due to me from this ship the General Kyd up to the present time with clothes and effects now in the ship I also will unto the same Wm Ballard of the above named place a Silver Watch guard chain and Gold Seals and a suit of blue clothes now in his hands ashore being my last will & Testament - signed by me W. Ballard. Witness my hand Fred Geare - Richd C Knight.

 

The above will was signed in our presence by the deceased on the 5th December 1837 - Fredk.Geare = Richd C Knight.

 

On the 3rd day of August 1838 admon with the will annexed ) of the Goods Chattels and Credits of William Ballard late Quarter Master belonging to the Merchant Ship General Kyd at Whampoa in China widower, deceased was granted to William Ballard one of the natural and lawful children of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to admr no executor or residuary Legatee.
