Know all men by these presents
that I Thomas Ballard now belonging to his Majesties Ship Hampshire have and by
these present do make ordain and constitute my honoured father George Ballard my
true and lawful Attorney irrevocable for me and in my name …
And I the said Thomas Ballard considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and declare these presents to contain my last will and testament that is to say Imprimis I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God from whom it hath its being and all such wages sum and sums of money land tenements goods chattels estate whatsoever wherewith at the time of my decease I shall be possessed or invested or which shall then belong or of right appertains unto me I do give devise and bequeath unto my aforesaid father George Ballard. And do hereby nominate and appoint my said father my whole an sole executor and do make and do ordain these presents to stand and be for and as my only last will and testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of June Anno Domini 1697. And in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King William etc. Tho, Ballard. Signed sealed published and delivered in the presence of <us present> Jno. Swort? Lieut. Jas. Jones Master.
