In the name of God Amen the I Thomas Ballard of No 29 Chapel Street Grosvenor Square in the parish of St George Hanover Square London do make this is my last will and testament as follows I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Ann Ballard whom I appoint as my sole executrix all that my freehold and leasehold property which I can or may be possessed of at the time of my decease and all other property of every description which I am in possession of or may be according to the will of my father after paying my funeral expenses and all my just debts October 23rd 1813 – Thomas Ballard.

 

Appeared personally Nathaniel Ffiske of the parish of St Mary le bone in the county of Middlesex gentleman and Edward Wilkinson of the parish of St George Hanover Square in the same county gentleman and being sworn on the holy evangelists made oath that they knew and were well acquainted with Thomas Ballard late of Chapel Street Grosvenor Square in the county of Middlesex deceased for sometime before and nearly up to the time of his death and with his manner and character of handwriting and subscription having frequently seen him write and subscribe his name and having now carefully viewed and perused the paper writing hereunto annexed purporting to be and contain the last will and testament of the said deceased beginning thus ”In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Ballard of No 29 Chapel Street – Grosvenor Square” and ending thus “after paying my funeral expenses & all my just debts” and thus subscribed and dated “Thos Ballard Oct 23rd 1813” they further made oath that the whole body series and contents of the said paper writing beginning ending subscribed and dated as aforesaid together with the interlineations therein and subscription thereto were and are all of the proper handwriting and subscription of the said deceased as they verily and in their consciences believe – Nathaniel Fiske -- Edward Wilkinson – on the thirteenth day of October 1820 the said Nathaniel Fiske and Edward Wilkinson were duly sworn to the truth of this affidavit before me Joseph Phillimore Surrogate Pst. Charles Dyneley Notr. Pub.

 

Proved at London 17th October 1820 before the worshipful Joseph Phillimore Doctor of laws and surrogate by the oath of Mary Ann Ballard widow the relict and the sole executrix to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
