This is the will of that I the said Richard Ballard to
make of my houses and tenements lands pastures and Meadows lying within the
county of Essex firstly I give and bequeath my house in Romford that the glovers
dwellith in with thappurtenances for a yerely obit to be kept for me and my
friends in the church of Saint Edward in romford in the which obit I will let
them be expended every year three shillings and fourpence and the residue of the
rent of the said house I will it be <???> in reparation of the
<prime> house. Also I give and
bequeath my house in Romford with thappurtenances which which Lawrence the
simple dwellers in to them ending of highways near about romford in the which am
ending I will the whole yearly rent be expended <???> <???> of the
whole <???>. I will have their
B3 shillings preserved every year for the reparation of the same house And the
other <2s> it will the churchwardens of Romford have that is <???>
for them every year 12 pence for I will that the churchwardens of Romford
<???> for the time being shall let the said two houses and so of the said
two houses by them so letten shall receive the rent and keep mine obit above
aforesaid observed and in like manner of the amending of the highways and in
reparation of the said two houses kept. And
if the said to houses shall not need yearly in <R???> <af????> I
have reserved for preparation I will add it to be kept in the church wardens
hands and delivered from churchwarden to churchwarden till such time as it shall
be in the default be expanded on the same houses.
I give her and bequeath my own house with the appurtenances lying in Har
Street parish of Stanford Rivers to the gilding of one of the tabernacle is in
the church of Stanford Rivers the witch house I will my executors to sell and
the money of the said house gilt one of the said tabernacles as in before
expressed And with the overplus if any BI will my executors to amend a plough
called Smythes Plough. I give and
bequeath to Margaret my wife my tenement called Mychells with Meadows and
pastures and their appurtenances and my tenement which Payne that dwelleth in
with Meadows pastures and their appurtenances during her life I give and
bequeath to Agnes my daughter after the deceased of my wife my tenement called
Mitchell's with Meadows pastures and there appurtenances and my tenement that
Payne dwelleth in with Meadows pastures and their appurtenances to her and her
heirs of the body lawfully be gotten. And
if she die without heirs of her body lawfully begotten then I will that my
tenement which Payne dwelleth in do remain to the next heir of me the said
Richard Ballard. And my tenement
called Mitchell's I will the yearly rent of it be expanded in amending of
highways now about the same <?????> The space of <12> years. And
after the <12th> year be expended I will it remain to the next heirs of me
the said Richard Ballard. I give and
bequeath to Joan Trovy my wife daughter after the decease of my wife my tenement
lying at Stanford Heath with meadows and pastures and their appurtenances during
her life and after her deceased I will Joan Trovy her daughter have it to her
and to her heirs. I give and bequeath to William Ballard the younger my tenement
called Craffes with meadows pastures and their appurtenances. I give and
bequeath to John Alyn of Abridge my house with the appurtenances called <Spurres>
which Scarlet dwelleth in during his life and after his decease I will remain to
Thomas Alyn & ___ Alyn his two sons equally to be divided between them
<???> And so to the heirs of their bodies lawfully begotten and if one of
them die without heirs of his body lawfully begotten I will it remain to the
other and to his heirs and if they both die without heirs of their body lawfully
be gotten then I will it remain to the next heirs of me the said Richard Ballard
moreover I will that the said John Alyn of Abridge or any of his two sons
anywise shall not put forthe the said Scarlet of the house during his life nor
<???> him of no more rent but as he hath paid in times past.
