In the name of God Amen the xxiiii th day of April in the yeare of our Lorde god a thousand five hundrethe fourscore and xii and in the fower and thirtithe yeare of the reigne of our sovirigne Ladie Elizabethe by the grace of god queene of Englande France & Irelande defender of the () faythe I Richard Ballarde of the pishe of Hedcorne in the countie of Kente yeoman being sicke in bodie but of strong faythe in christ Jesus the Lord therefore be thanked doe make this my laste will & testamente in mannr & forme hereafter followinge.

 FIRST I commend my soule into the handes of Almightie god that gave yt me & my bodie to earthe & from whence it came hoping assuredlie that through the merits of Jesus Christe my saviour & redeemr I shall at ye latter day receave the same agayne a glorified & immortall boddye __. ITEM I give unto Elizabeth Allen my goddaughter my bed that I lie on with all things thereunto belonging. ITEM I give unto Richard Allen my godsonne one cheste. ITEM I give unto Marie Allen a cheste. ITEM I give unto Annie Allen a presse with all the reste of my moveable goods in my chamber or elsewhere.

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me Richard Ballard aforesayde of all my landes within ye pishe of Hedcorne. FIRST I give and bequeathe unto Richard Ballarde the sonne of John Ballarde my sonnes sonne one pcell of land lying upon ye den of Ballden by estimacion xx acres of lande more or lesse adioyning to the queenes highe streete northe easte and unto Mr John Woottons landes southe & west. ITEM I give unto my daughter Allen out of the sayde landes that I have given unto Richarde Ballarde the sonne of John Ballarde xls a yeare duringe her naturall life. And after my daughter Allens decease my will is that the same xls a yeare shall remayne unto Richarde Ballard agayne & unto the heyres of his bodye lawfullie begotten & if it fortune that Richarde Ballarde decease withoute heyres of his bodie lawfullie begotten my will is the sayde xx acres of land that Richarde Ballarde should have shall remayne unto my daughter Allens childe Richarde Allen my godsonne & his heyres for evr. ITEM I give and bequeathe another pcell of lande lyinge upon the denne of Ballden by estimacion x acres of lande more or lesse ioyninge to ye queens highe streete southe & unto the landes of Mr Moyse weste and northe & unto the landes of Mr Marney easte for to be soulde by my executor William Allen and the money thereof made for to be equally divided betweene my three daughters that is to say my daughter Alice & my daughter Elizabethe and Margaret my daughter. ITEM I make and ordeyne Williem Allen my sonne in lawe my whole executor of my laste will & testamente & Thomas Whisperhawke my overseer. Witness unto this will Thomas Whisperhawke & Warroner Reynolds his wife.
