Will dated

Will probated

17th August 1771

In the name of God Amen. I Edward Ballard DD and Vicar of Old Windsor in the county of Berks being mindful of my own mortality do think proper to make and declare this to be my last will and testament. Imprimis I resign my soul to God who gave it as into the hands of a faithful creator trusting to be saved through the alone merits of my Redeemer Christ Jesus who died for our sins and rose again for our justification. My body I would have laid in the same vault with the remains of my late dear wife in Old Windsor churchyard and the Latin inscription I have left for that purpose put on the Marble stone under that for my wife. As to the worldly goods with which God has been pleased to bless me I think proper to leave all my estates both real and personal to my dear nephew Captain Robert Ballard and do constitute and appoint him my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament and residuary legatee. In witness whereof and by which I utterly disannul and make void all former wills and any time before made by me I do here set my hand and seal to the same on this thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1768 and of his present Majesty King George the thirds reign the 8th – Edward Ballard – signed sealed published and declared by the said Edward Ballard as his last will and testament in the presence of us to have subscribed our names in the presence of the said Doctor Ballard – John Williams senior – John Williams junior – Sarah Williams
