In the name of God Amen. I Martha Ballard of the City of New Sarum in the County of Wilts widow being sick in body but of sound perfect and disposing memory and understanding God be praised hereby revoking all former wills and codicils of wills by me made doe make and constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to obtain Salvation My body I commit to the earth whereof it was made to be decently interred by my executrix hereinafter named in the North Isle of the Parish Church of Saint Thomas in the said city of New Sarum And as for the Worldly estate which God hath pleased to bestow upon me I give and dispose of the same as followeth Imprimis I give devise and bequeath unto my son John Ballard and his heirs for ever all that my fifth part or share which I have and ought to have of in to and out of All that Messuage and Tenement farm and lands situate lying and being in Odstock in the said county of Wilts now or late in the tenure or occupation of William Barker of Fordingbridge in the County of Southampton his undertenant or undertenants Item I give unto my said son John Ballard the sum of ten pounds to buy him mourning Item I give and bequeath unto my son in law Nathaniel Webb and Martha his wife my daughter the like sum of ten pounds to buy them mourning. Item I give unto my son Henry Ballard twenty pounds of current English money to be paid unto him within twelve months next after my decease in case he shall come personally and demand the same at or under the New Council house situate within the said city of New Sarum But in case my said son Henry shall not demand the said sum of twenty pounds as aforesaid before he shall depart this life in such case my will and meaning is that the same shall remain and be in the hands and custody of my Executrix hereinafter named for her own use and benefit Item I give unto my son Oliver Ballard the like sum of twenty pounds of like current English money to be paid unto him within twelve months next after my decease in case he shall come personally and demand the same at or under the said New Council house but in case my said son Oliver shall not demand the said last mentioned sum of twenty pounds as aforesaid before he shall depart this life In such case my will is that the same shall remain in the hands of my Executrix hereinafter named for her own use and benefit And further my will and meaning is that in case but one of my said sons Henry or Oliver shall come and demand his said legacy at such place and in such manner as aforesaid then I do hereby give unto such of my said sons Henry or Oliver as shall so demand his said legacy of twenty pounds the like sum of twenty pounds more to be paid in such manner and at such place as aforesaid my other son being then dead All the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate whatsoever not herein and hereby already given and bequeathed I do hereby give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Susan Ballard whom I do hereby make constitute and appoint sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament willing her carefully to perform the same according to the true intent and meaning hereof In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirteenth day of July In the first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King James the second over England etc Anno Domini One Thousand Six hundred Eighty Five. Martha Ballard the Testatrix to be her last Will and Testament in presence of us whose names are here subscribed and attested and subscribed in the presence of the said Testatrix by us Ellinor Abbott, Thomas Abbott Jnr, Thomas Richards.
