In the name of God Amen the last day of October Anno Domini  1580, I Margery Ballard of West Firle in the county of Sussex widow being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and remembrance thanks be to God do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul unto the merciful hands of Almighty God my creator and maker and to my only saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ by whose blood? <?????> I hope to receive pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Weston Firle aforesaid item I bequeath towards the reparation of the said church twelve pence item I bequeath to the Parsons box there twelve pence item I bequeath to Joan Fletman my daughter five pence in money my best frock my best black <lynsio>-<moltin> apron a smock and a <?????> item I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Symes five pence in money my second best frock my second best <?????> and smock and a bolster item I bequeath to my daughter Alice <Blasé> my bed a pair of sheets a <?????> a coverlet and a bolster item I bequeath to my daughter Margery <Hyrst?> twelve pence item I bequeath to Margaret Ballard wife of James Ballard my best petticoat the chest <?????> then you <?????> a white blanket?
