In the name of god amen the 26th day of January 1641 in the sixteenth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of god King of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith etc.  I John Ballard citizen and Vintner of London being sick in body but of good and perfect mind and memory praise to be god therefore do make my last Will and Testament as followeth that is to say firstly I commend my soul to almighty god hoping to be saved and to have a free pardon for my sins through the only merits death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ.  My mortal body I commit to the earth in the hope of joyful resurrection and the goods chattels debts and estate which god hath lent me in this world I give as followeth that is to say First I will that all just debts as I owe shall be paid Item I give to my daughter Mary £40.00 item to my mother <house> 20 shillings to buy her a ring item I give to my nephew Thomas Ballard £10.00 item I give to Elizabeth Russell £5.00 and all the rest of my estate and land to my loving wife Mary and leave her full executor of all praying that she will have care of my children John Ballard Robert Ladd <???> Jurat Humphey Ballard.

 

Probate granted at London March 1st 1642 to Mary Ballard relict of the deceased.
