This is the last will and testament of me John Ballard of Hawkhurst in the county of Kent yeoman made this second day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen. I give unto my <trust> and their heirs for ever to dispose of as follows that is to say I give and bequeath unto my sons George and Isaac and my daughter Sarah Ballard all that messuage or tenement and premises with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the town of Cranbrook in the said county of Kent near Saint David’s bridge now in the occupation of William Chapman to hold the same unto the said George Ballard Isaac Ballard and Sarah Ballard their heirs and assigns for ever equally to be divided between them share and share alike. Also I give and bequeath unto my son John Ballard his heirs and assigns for ever all that messuage or tenement and premises with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Cranbrook in the said county of Kent now in the occupation of Thomas <Boots>. Also I give and bequeath unto my son Isaac Ballard his heirs and assigns for ever all that messuage or tenement and premises with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Hawkhurst on the Moor in the said county of Kent now in his own occupation. Also I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels effects ready money securities for money whatsoever and wheresoever after and subject to the payment of my funeral expenses just debts and other expenses attending the execution of this my will unto my sons Vincent Ballard William Ballard John Ballard George Ballard and Isaac Ballard and my daughters Philadelphia the wife of Henry Harman Phoebe the wife of Edward Chittenden Chary the wife of William Parsons and Sarah Ballard equally to be divided between them. And I do hereby <?a??yate> constitute and appoint my beloved wife Sarah Ballard executrix and my son John Ballard and Mr William <Unicum> of Cranbrook Exors of this my last will. In witness whereof I the said John Ballard the testator have to this my last will and testament contained in this sheet of paper subscribed and set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. John Ballard the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses George Stonehouse James Kemp Thomas Buss.

 

Proved at London on 24th May 1819 before the judge by the oaths of Sarah Ballard widow the relict John Ballard the son and William <Unicum> the Exors to whom admon was granted having first sworn duly to administer.
