In the name of God Amen. I
John Ballard of East Greenwich in the county of Kent baker (although sick of
body yet) in good and perfect memory or mind (thanks be to our Lord Jesus) do
ordain nominate constituted and appoint this my last will and testament in
manner and form following. Imprimis I bequeath my soul into the hands of
almighty God my only redeemer and Jesus Christ his son my only saviour and
redeemer, my body I bequeath unto the earth from whence it came to be buried in
decent manner at the discretion of my executors. My worldly goods I dispose of
in manner and form following. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my
cousin Elizabeth Ballard the sum of 40 shillings lately bequeathed unto
me by her father deceased. Item I give and bequeath unto my aunt Ballard now
commonly called Clark <?will?> the sum of 6 shillings and eight pence.
Item I give and bequeath unto John Kafin a pair off <sparkes?> a velvet
breeches. Item I give and bequeath
unto John fforte my black cloak at my aunt Ballards and also a pair of breeches
and doublet. All other my goods chattles moveables
debts or money whatsoever I fully and absolutely give and bequeath unto
Agnes Blakely of East Greenwich aforesaid widow which Agnes Blakley I do
nominate constitute and appoint for the full whole and sole executrix of this my
said last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said John Ballard to
this my said last will and testament
have put my hand and seal dated the eight and twentieth day of the month
of October and in the first year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James by the
grace of God King of England France and Ireland defender of the faith and of his
reign of Scotland 30 years one thousand six hundred and three. John Ballard
witness whereof the mark of Robert <????> The mark of Robert Walker.
