I Caroline Ballard Spinster do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) Imprimis and give to my nephew Thos Borrett Esquire of Shoreham in the county of Kent all money of what sort soever I have standing in my name Caroline Ballard in the Bank Stock Consolidated for his own use only and at the time of my decease I bequeath fifty pounds now in the hands of Charles Polhill Esquire and if not that sum whatever stands in the above Charley Polhill Esquire's hands and I bequeath to my careful friend my cousin Catherine Akehurst with my Mettle Watch and chain and an old silver watch and after her decease the above mentioned fifty pounds I bequeath to my neice Hester Ballard daughter of Doctor Ballard my Brother I bequeath all the best of my wearing apparel to my neice Hester Ballard and all the rest to my woman servant that is living with me at the time of my death All my furniture to Mrs Martha Borrett wife of Tho: Borrett Esquire of Shoreham in Kent and what part she dont chuse to take I give to my neice Hester Ballard my silver hand candlestick I give to Mrs Elizabeth Polhill of Chepsted in the county of Kent as a small token for all her obliging behaviour to me I desire Mr. Borrett will put me in the ground in the Church Yard as Shoreham by reason I know it is very expensive to open the Chancel. On the thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five admon (with the will annexed) of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Caroline Ballard formerly of the parish of Saint George Hanover Square in the county of Middlesex but late of Riverhead in the county of Kent Spinster deceased was granted to Thomas Borrott Esquire the nephew and one of the next of kin of the said deceaed having been first sworn duly to administer for that no executor or residuary legatee is named in the said will.
