In the Name of God Amen I Bernard Ballard of Halifax
Nova Scotia late of Bermuda and now residing in London being of sound and
disposing mind and memory do hereby make this my last Will and Testament as for
such worldly estate and effects which I shall be possessed of or entitled unto
at the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same as followeth that is to
say I give and bequeath unto my sisters Mary Eleanor and Jane each five hundred
pounds and my brother William the remainder of my property after paying the
following legacies Mr Quisier of Halifax ffity pounds Mr James Ritchie of do
ffifty pounds Mr S W Smith late of Bermuda ffifty pounds Mr FF S Mouchet of
Woolwich fifty pounds the whole to be in Halifax currency and I do further
hereby nominate and appoint Messrs James Richard Tobin of Halifax Nova Scotia my
Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all
other and former wills by me here to fore made In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and thirty nine -- signed B Ballard -- sealed signed
published and declared by the said B Ballard as and for his last will and
Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as
witnesses in the presence of the said testator at the same time and in the
presence of each other - signed James Richardson -- Robert Finlayson
On the 17th day of June 1841 Admon (with the will annexed) of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Bernard Ballard formerly of Halifax Nova Scotia afterwards of Bermuda and late of Heidelberg in Germany Bachelor deceased was granted to Mary Ballard Spinster the natural and lawful sister and one of the next of kin having been first sworn by commission duly to administer the honourable Michael Tobin the surviving Executor having <concurred> and William Ballard the Brother and Residuary Legatee having died in the lifetime of the said deceased.
