In the name of God amen The 4th day of December in the year of our Lord god 1558 I Bartholomew Ballard of the parish of Westfirle in Sussex being sick in body yet of whole mind and good remembrance thanks be to god signed and sealed this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul to almighty god to be blessed <????> and <???> of god and ma?? All the holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Westfirle And <??> dirige and mass there to be done for me at my burial and months mind  I give payment <??> bread and drink at the discretion of my executors Item I bequeath to the mother church of <????> <for> to the high altar of my parish church for tythes omitted <by> <???mitted> 4d Item I bequeath to the reparation of my parish church 3s 4d Item I bequeath to Agnes my eldest daughter 40s and my other 3 daughters <Sharlotte> Phillipa and Anabell unto each of them 30s 8d And those bequests to be payable to my said daughters at the age of 21 years or other at the day of their marriage Item I bequeath to my sons John and <Rafe?> by equal portions the remainder of the pryal of 4 <exps> that is to say after <pls> <g?ando> to John Barndey the son of Robert Barndey <????> and 24d paid to Richard <Warfizmory> of Cowfold the which 4 <???> I ladywood unto my brother John Yardmays of <Bargham> <???> last past
