In the name of God Amen: I Barnaby Ballard of the parish of St George Hanover Square in the county of Middlesex coffee mend do make this my last will and testament in manner following. First I give and bequeath unto my sister Rosy King of the city of Waterford in the sum of five pounds to be paid her by my executrix hereinafter named within twelve months after my decease. And all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects of what nature sought or kind soever or wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my daughter Winifred Ballard and to appoint my said daughter sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at anytime heretofore made and exempted. And my express will and desire is to my said daughter not to intermarry with John Caphoray but that she continue to carry on my business and my desire also is that my said daughter to advise and consult with my good friends Mr Nathaniel Leicester of Swallow Street brother and Mr John Anne Brown of the said parish of St George Hanover Square gentleman before she intermarry with any person whatsoever and that she will not marry without their consent and approbation and my desire is that Mr Paul Mombray and Mr James Barbar be jointly employed by my said executrix in and about my funeral. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of December in the year of our Lord 1743 – Bart Ballard – signed sealed published and declared by the said Barnaby Ballard has for his last will and testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses in his presence – Elizabeth Robbins – John Abbott.

 

This will was proved at London before the worshipful George Hay Doctor of laws and surrogate of the right worshipful John Butterworth also doctor of laws Master keeper or Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted the seventh day of December in the year of our Lord 1745 by the oaths of Winifred Ballard spinster the daughter of the deceased and sole executrix in the said will named to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased being first sworn duly to administer.

 

The following children are shown by the IGI to be daughters of Barnaby Ballard and Elizabeth and were christened at Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London

Elizabeth Ballard was born 23rd September 1720 and christened 29 SEP 1720

Evelyn Ballard was christened 09 JAN 1721                          

Anne Ballard was born 10th December 1722 and christened 19 DEC 1722 

Winifred Ballard was born 05 NOV 1723 and christened, 07 NOV 1723  

 

The IGI also has Barnabas Ballard married to Elizabeth Mann on 17 DEC 1719 at Westminster, London
