Seventh day of April in the second year of the reign of our soverein Lord and
lady William and Mary by the grace of God King and Ruller of England Scotland
france and Ireland Defender of the faith year One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety
One I Anne Ballard now of <.......> in the Parish of Langarron in the
county of Hereford Spinster Daughter of Richard Ballard late of Langarron in the
parish aforesaid now deceased being weak and infirm in body but of sound and
perfect mind and memory thanks be given to almighty God/ do make and declare
this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say,
first and principally I give and bequeath my soul unto Almighty God my creator
trusting in the alone meritts and mediation of Jesus Christ my Savoir and
Redeemer to have pardon and remission of my soul and to bee (sic) made
<partaker> of eternal happiness in the Kingdoom of Heaven and my body to
be buried decently in Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executor
Hereafter named And as for my Wordly Goods wherewith God hath endued me withal I
do hereby dispose of the same in manner following that is to say First I do give
and bequeath unto the poor of the parish of langarron the sum of five pounds of
good and lawfull money of England Item I give and bequeath unto my
brother James Ballard of the City of London Gentleman and for his heirs
forever all the my parcell of lands adjoing to Longrove
Comon which I <purchased> of Phillip Vaughan Gentleman and his son
Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Elizabeth Wotton
the sum of Twenty pounds to be paid to my said sister Elizabeth ymediately after
the decease of William Wotten her husband
<also> my will and meaning is that the interset and increase of the said
Twenty pounds shall be duly paid to my said sister Elizabeth every half year
after my decease by my said Executor and incase my sister Elizabeth shall
decease before her husband then my will is that the Twenty pounds before
mentioned shall be paid to all my said sister Elizabeths children which shall be
then living by equall shares and proportion to witt at their Accomplishment of
the several ages of Eighteen years Item I give and bequeath unto
my Nephew and Godson William Wotten son of my said sister Elizabeth the
sum of Ten pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my said
sister Elizabeths six other children (vizt) to Thomas her son Anne Elizabeth
Judith Mary and Jane her five daughters the sum of five pounds a piece
nevertheless my will and meaning is And I do hereby limit order and appoint that
the seven last mentioned legacys before bequeathed to my said Elizabeths
<seven> children shall put to interest or some other way to increase and
improve the same by my said Executor or some other responsible person whom hee
shall intrust therewith untill the said legatees shall aventualy attain the age
of Eighteen years a piece And that then the said several legacyes and the
interest or increase shalbee (sic) paid to them respectivly according to the
tenor of this my will which they shall severally accoumplish that age or sooner
at the discretion only of my said Executor And incase either of the said last
named legatees shall happen to dye before his or her legacy hereby bequeathed
shal happen to bee paid acording to the tenor of this my will then my will is
that the legacy or lagacys of <such> of them dying as shall then happen to
bee unpaid and the interest and the interest or advantage which do or may bee
part of shalbe paid to the survivors of them by equall shares and proportions
Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Chambers
the sum of Twenty pounds of lawfull money to be paid her within six months after
my deceased Item I give and bequeath unto my brother in
law <Wm> Chamber the sum of five pounds of lawfull money to buy him
mourning Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary's
three children the sum of five pounds a piece <viz) Richard
Elizabeth and William Chambers and my will is that these last Legacys to
my sister Mary's three children shalbe put to interest or some other way to
increase and improve the same by my Executor untill they shall attain the age of
eighteen years a piece and incase either of them shall happen to dye before his
or her lagacy shalbe paid then my will is that the lagacy or lagacys of such of
them dying as shalbe unpaid and the interest and advantage that is or may be
made <....> shalbe paid to the survivor or survivors of them Item I give
and bequeath unto my two nephews Richard Ballard and
John the sum of Ten shillings a piece to buy each of them a mourning ring
Item I give and bequeath unto my Goddaughter Dorothy Hoskins the sum of three
pounds of lawfull money to be paid within three months after my decease Item I
give to my Goddaughter Elinor Williams the sum of forty shillings And as for the
rest of my goods and chattells not herby disposed I do give and bequeath unto
my brother William Ballard whom I do hereby nominate and appoint to be
the Executor of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the day and yeare above written. Anne Ballard
