In the name of god amen this 11th day of September in the 19th year of the reign of our sovereign Lord King Charles and in the year of our Lord 1643 I Alice Ballard of Oxon widow sick in body but of good understanding do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following hereby revoking all former wills and testaments by me formerly made or by me intended to be made.  And I do give and bequeath to William Ffreynch 20 shillings to make him a ring in remembrance of me or otherwise to employ at his pleasure.  Item I do then dispose of the rest of my goods and chattels the one half I give and bequeath to my son Gregory Ballard his children to be equally divided amongst them the other half I give to my son Gregory Ballard whom I make the sole executor of this my will and my wearing apparel I give to my daughter in law Margaret Ballard and this I do publish and declare for my last will and testament the day and year above written Alice Ballard her mark signed and published in the presence of Anne Cale Anne Marcham

 

Probate granted at London 15th May 1647 to Gregory Ballard son of the deceased executor named in the will.
