No date

[Document is badly damaged and repaired]

Ballard was interested in the well-being of Thomas Pickeman who was being pursued by Catesbye “for debt and damage” to the sum of 8 pounds, was imprisoned in the Fleet prison. Ballard come to Catesbye to offer to settle the debt on behalf of Pickeman and thus obtain his release. This Catesbye agreed to do but he has never received the money from Ballard and so he has brought the action for debt. Asks that Ballard be summoned to answer the charges.
