C3/7/93
Ballard v. Thomson
Bill of Complaint of William
Ballard,
2 May 1560,
William Ballard of Radcliffe on
Trent, gent., owner in fee of one messuage, two cottages, three yards and two
orchards, fifty acres of land, ten acres of meadow, 30 acres of pasture at ten
shillings of rent, with appurtenances in Radcliffe and Lamcote in Notts.
Recently three deeds and writings relating to these lands and properties
have come ‘casually’ into the hands of Agnes Thompson, widow, and John
Rossell esq., and she has been receiving the rents and profits without any just
title or lawful conveyance. He has ‘very gently’ asked Thompson and Rossell
for the deeds and for him to peacefully occupy the property but they have
refused. Ask that they be subpoenaed to appear before the court to answer these
complaints.
